Description

The Crocodile Festival, usually held in August in Ambunti, East Sepik River, Papua New Guinea, is a celebration honoring the crocodile, a symbol of strength, power and manhood. This man has a pattern on his skin from scarification made to look like the skin of a crocodile. The scarification is an ancient ritual that initiates boys into manhood.
