Running with the Herd

I was photographing the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep ewes and their youngsters peacefully grazing on the hillside in Waterton Canyon in Littleton, Colorado, when they suddenly started running down the hill to the road below, where I was, and back up in ever widening circles, apparently for the joy of it. At first they avoided me, but soon I found myself surrounded by them in their exuberance. It was a little disconcerting, but also an incredible experience to be in the middle of the thundering hooves of approximately 50 of them. Luckily, they did an excellent job of not running into me.
